Background and Alternate Names

Human corticotropin-releasing hormone receptor 2 (CRFR2), is a 7-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). CRFR2 is a Class B GPCR that binds corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) to promote the activation of adenylate cyclase, leading to increased intracellular cAMP levels. It has been found that CRFR2 is a critical component of a pathway necessary for tonic inhibition of adult neovascularization, making CRFR2 a potential therapeutic target for modulation of angiogenesis in cancer and ischaemic cardiovascular disease. Human CRFR2 protein has >90% sequence homology with mouse CRFR2.

Alternate Names: CRHR2, CRF-RB, CRF2, HM-CRF
