Background and Alternate Names
Human G-protein coupled receptor 19 (GPR19), is 7-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). It is an orphan Class A GPCR. GPR19 is highly expressed in the central nervous system. It has been proposed that GPR19 binds adropin as a ligand. Strong GPR19 expression has been found in adenocarcinomas, typical and atypical carcinoids of the lung, and small cell lung cancer making it a possible diagnostic or therapeutic target. Human GPR19 protein has >95% and ~83% sequence homology with macaque and mouse GPR19, respectively.
