Background and Alternate Names

Human relaxin/insulin-like family peptide receptor 4 (RXFP4) is a 7-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). RXFP4 is a class A GPCR. RXFP4 is highly expressed in the lower gut and is involved with the regulation of food intake, gut motility, and other functions relevant to metabolic health and disease. Recently, it has also been implicated to be involved in serotonin release. RXFP4 deficiency has been implicated in colon motility, colorectal cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Human RXFP4 protein has ~99% sequence homology with mouse RXFP4.

Alternate Names: GPCR142, GPR100, RLN3R2, RXFPR4, relaxin family peptide/INSL5 receptor 4
